Learn more about International Student and Scholar Population

UNC Charlotte offers a chance for international and domestic students to live and learn together in our campus community to explore, experience and expand their understanding of each other’s culture in a fun, relaxed and safe environment.

Witherspoon International Floor (second floor)

International “House”, co-sponsored by the Department of Housing and Residence Life and Office of International Programs, provides an opportunity for both U.S. and international students to experience, appreciate and learn about new and different cultures. Located on second floor of Witherspoon Hall, each apartment or suite houses two U.S. and two international students. There is no language requirement and admission is open to all on a first-come, first-serve basis.

In order to live in this option, you need to request it under Special Interest Housing Options, as well as indicate Witherspoon Hall as a building preference on your online housing application.

Global Gateways House (Witherspoon Hall)

Witherspoon Hall is also home to Global Gateways (GG), a co-ed, global themed residential-based programming model designed to increase students’ self and cultural awareness with an international emphasis. The Global Gateways Wing in Witherspoon Hall offers a central location where students curious about different cultures, global issues, and the world can gather in a comfortable, inclusive, and welcoming space. Global Gateways is now available to male and female students and offers a complementary co-curricular experience that enhances any academic discipline. GG residents participate in organized social and educational experiences to increase intercultural competence and global awareness.
